NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

COMMUNITY FORESTRY ANSAB builds the capacity of local communities on forest resource assessments, sustainable harvesting practices, good governance, and linking conservation and economic development. These capacites help them to develop sustainable forest management plans that consider the existing status of the forest resources and focus on forest conservation in addition to ensuring that forest products (including NTFPs) are sustainably harvested and distributed among users.

FOREST CERTIFICATION
ANSAB assists Community Forest User Group(CFUGs) in obtaining Forest Steward Council (FSC) Certifications standards to bring new CFUs into the certification pools. Since the group certification model is unique and new to Nepal,ANSAB works to raise stakeholders' awarness. ANSAB also helps build forest resource managers' and certified CFUG's capacities to ensure quality forest management.

PAYMENT FOR ECOSYSTEM SERVICES
Under the activity,ANSAB facilitates increasing economic incentives for forest resource management communities who are looking after the conservation of ecosystems. ANSAB conducts research and pilots payment for ecosystem services in local, regional and international levels.

AGROFORESTRY
ANSAB promotes promising agroforestry practices with a special focus on poor and landless individuals who may benefit from these systems. The promising agroforestry practices help to conserve biodiversity, maintain ecosystem services and help attain poverty reduction goals.

BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION
ANSAB helps identify rare and endangered plant species and their critical habitats and facilitates conservation measures at various level. It develops participatory biodiversity monitoring tools to promote people oriented conservation practices.
